BEYOND PLASTIC

We believe anything single use should be non-toxic and compostable.
We're contextualizing why the industry is addicted to plastic bottling and what we can do to change it.

PROFIT = SINGLE USE PLASTIC

More than 120 billion units of cosmetic packaging are being produced globally every year. Most of the packaging being produced comes in plastic, which takes 500+ years to decompose. Single use plastics are environmental toxins.

A BEAUTY INDUSTRY TURNED UGLY

Less than 10% of plastic ever created has been recycled. Most lives on in landfill, waterways, and soil. As these plastics break down, they become micro plastics.

In the fight for a more clean and ethical beauty industry, we have started to look at the real data instead of greenwash our own efforts. Despite the plastic's industry investment in labeling plastics recyclable, plastic remains one of the least likely materials to be recycled.

We utilize timeless materials like glass and steel for our bottles that are designed to last. All our single use packaging is made from 90% recycled paper and the remaining is FSC certified pulp. Not only is paper likely to be recycled, it's also degradable in nature within a few months.

During the last 15 years, as we have become more environmentally aware, brands have produced half the world’s plastic waste. While the solutions are obvious and readily implementable, industries like the personal care brands have refused to make the simple switch from bottling in plastic to better solutions. We sat down with environmentalists, journalists, and resource economists to contextualize the problems and solutions out there.

“The SSNC have been working to reduce toxic chemicals in the nature since 1970’s. During the years SSNC has contributed to stop the usage of, for instance, mercury grazed seed and toxic biocides in farmlands, triclosan in toothpaste, phosphates in detergents and PFAS in cosmetics. Preschools have been detoxified and awareness of plastics as polluter have been raised. Now we advocate a ban of all PFASs in Sweden, and the right to clean and safe tap water without PFAS.” — SSNC Representative
